Lithology and Thickness
It belongs to Uluk and Kuberghandinsky horizons. The Safetdaron Fm is divided into two sub-suites (Vlasov, 1963).
The upper sub-suite of the Safetdaron Fm consists of massive light gray organogenic reef limestones, occasionally containing layers and lenses of gray and red sandstones. The thickness of the sub-suite is 0-600 m, rarely 1000 m.
The lower parts of the upper sub-suite of the Safetdaron Fm, and sometimes the entire underlying suite, is facially replaced by the Chelamchin Fm.

Fossils
In it, remains of the Uluk fusulines Robustoschwagerina ci. tumida Lich., Pseudofusulina kraffti Schellw. et Dyhr., Parafusulina aff. japonica Gümb., and others have been found. In the middle part of the section, the fusulines of the Kuberghandinsky horizon appear: Brevaxina dyhrenfurthi Dutk., Misellina claudiae Depr. (Dutkevich and Qalmikova, 1937). Here, corals are also found that are known so far from the Parafusulina zone of Japan and from the upper part of the Schwagerin horizon of the Carnian Alps: Carinthiaphyllum kahleri Her., Iranophyllum permicum Min., Jatsengia ibukiensis Min. (Pyzyanov and Vlasov, 1970). In the upper sub-suite of the Safetdaron Fm, numerous remains of Lower Permian brachiopods have been collected, the complex of which differs from that of the brachiopods of the Karachatyrsky horizon (Vlasov, Likharev and Mikluho-Maclay, 19.2).
